This year I set out to push myself....to learn more about myself, life, and photography. There is so much that I've yet to learn, but I'm trying. Trying to grow and build my business and my talents.
A few new photography friends were getting together for this fabulous shoot that Brittany Schlamp had put together (she's who helped build my website!!). So I decided to wake up and push myself. I drove the almost 3 hours and I'm so happy that I did it.
The following images have challenged me even more. I love the shots that I got and I'm so excited to grow with even more wedding photography.

Feeling Blessed {101 in 1001} -|- Lacey Rabalais Photography

At the beginning of the year, I told myself that 2012 would be a great year. Why? How do I know? Well it's going to be a great year because I'm going to make it great. How do I know? Because I'm not going to give in one single time. Ok, I did give in the other day when I wasn't feeling great and got Popeyes...but I was sick and it was delicious. Anyway, I know that I've been blessed beyond my wildest imaginations and I'm going to take this blessings and run with them. No more second guessing, no more procrastinations.

I have grown in the past few months as a person inside (hopefully not the outside) and I've gotten to know other photographers who have pushed me and encouraged me to do the things I want to do. There is this new trend with people making a 101 in 1001 lists. It's a list of 101 things you'd like to accomplish in the next 1001 days (approximately 3 years). If you know me, I love lists. I love writing them. I love checking off my accomplishments. So I decided to go for it and write my 101 in 1001. I started my list last fall and have finally finished it...along the way already crossing some of the things off.

Pet Touch Therapy -|- Baton Rouge Pet Photography

Obviously, animals have a special place in my heart. I really think it's amazing how selfless pets can be without knowing any different. A simple tail wag, a bump of the hand, or just laying their next to you can speak volumes. Their character, their faithfulness, their trust, such wonderful animals that we have been blessed with.
I was invited to tag along with the Baton Rouge Pet Touch Therapy group as they visit some amazing people. Honestly, I hadn't prepared myself for what was about to happen. I felt overjoyed with how happy the simple visit was making the residents. Their faces lit up, they smiled, and they all seemed to enjoy talking about their past pets and how this experience was helping.
Thank you Pet Touch Therapy group for inviting me. I enjoyed every second of it. Can't wait for the next trip!!!

After a lot of thought, work, and late nights.....everything is finally complete. New blog design. New website. New logo.

Cooper Turned One!

Can't believe I haven't posted about his party yet. It was such a cute day! He was wonderful. He was cute. He was a little sick from his shots the day before....but it didn't stop him from enjoying his party.

The big cake...it was HIS. And at first he didn't know what to do with it but he quickly figured it out.

As he stared at me, I think he was warning me to leave his cake along. It was his. All his.

And that's when he figured it out....IT WAS DELICIOUS!

And then they took it away from him. Poor thing.

We had a little fun cleaning up.

And then he had enough. Enough of the streamers, enough of the camera, just enough.

Chibi might be one of the cutest things ever and I was so excited that his Mom decided to have a session. He is such a happy and friendly pup (Until you put him in a cage, but that's another story). He was very well behaved and into the exploring more than actually modeling for me. He did however rock it out!

One Year Later : Cooper Turns One.

If you know me or know anything about me you know that I'm obsessed with my nephew, Cooper. He literally is the cutest creation ever! Well today....he is a year old.

I can't believe that he was born 365 days ago. (You can read about it HERE).

He has changed our whole family. He has spread love through so many people around him. It's amazing how wonderful he is. So sweet. So cute. Growing like a champ. So smart.

I'm still waiting on him to say "Nanny". And boy when he does, I'm sure my heart will melt even more and I wont know what to do.

He is turning into such a little man and I can't believe how much he has grown.

Happy 1st Birthday, Coop. Nanny (&Poppy) love you!

Having my own pictures taken...and why you should to. -|- Louisiana Pet Photography

After Daisy was diagnosed with her cancer I knew that I wanted to have some pictures of all of us taken together. James and I haven't really had some pictures taken since we got married and I think after 5 years, it was time. And no matter how hot and sweaty we were and sort of look....I love them!
Thankfully we did this because Daisy was gone the next day. I can't imagine the regret I would have if I hadn't done this. I can honestly say that no matter how silly you think you are, how you think people will think you are a crazy dog person...you want these images, you need them, you deserve them. I'm so glad and excited that I have these forever.

Thank you to Brittany Wilson for capturing these for me. They mean the world to me.

One Year Ago...(Utah Vacation)

Almost exactly a year ago, I got to travel to Park City, Utah with my two best friends, mom, aunt, and friend. The 6 of us had a blast. Amanda, Haley, and I drove to Moab, Utah (the place where 127 Hours happened...Thank God we watched that movie after the vacation) to the Arches National Park. It was amazing. It was hot. There was no oxygen. We almost ran out of water. And we had no snacks. But it was amazing.

Facebook Timeline {and getting used to it}

So last week I wanted to "get to know" the new Facebook Timeline before everyone had it. I wanted to get a jump start and make sure that I had all my ducks in a row. So far I've heard that some people like it, some people hate it....my personal opinion is that it's awesome. I love the new layout of the profiles. I like seeing so much at once. I don't want to have to hunt down someone's information.
Wow, I sound like a stalker. It wasn't meant to sound that way. I just like to see my friend's info and pictures and life unfold as it happens...HELLO TIMELINE. It's perfect.
Plus it seems to be a photographer's dream with all of the images and tagging popping up on multiple pages and profiles. More exposure might just equal more business! Let's hope. Plus you get to share your beautiful images with your friends easier.
Along with the Timeline changes, you don't even have to be a "fan" of a page now to comment on pictures of you and your friends. [But you should def "Like" Lacey Rabalais Photography on Facebook].
I think that all profiles change to the Timeline set up this week...maybe tomorrow. So be on the look out. Below is what a screen capture of mine looks like. I love having MY picture and then being able to have the "cover image" to share my fav picture of J and I with the dogs.

Sisters Share A Shower

I knew it was time...

I can't believe it's almost been 2 months since the morning we had to say good bye. I can't believe that no matter how many times I dust and vacuum there is still her hair in our house. I can't believe that for some reason today I seem to be having a hard time with my decision. I only did what I thought was best for her.

If you didn't read THIS post, my golden retriever had a lung tumor. After weighing all the possibilities I decided that the best thing for her and myself was to spoil her, keep her happy, and comfortable until other decisions had to be made.
On August 6, 30 days after finding the tumor, I woke up to an ADR Daisy. If you don't know what ADR means...in veterinary medicine it means Ain't Doing Right. She would barely get up, was having a hard time breathing, but the whole time she looked like she was smiling at me. I got dressed, helped her to the car, and called my best friend at work to let her know we were coming. Of course, it was Saturday, none of her doctors were at the clinic, I started to panic even more. Not to say that the doctors that were there couldn't help me but I didn't want to start having to explain from the beginning what was going on. Luckily, they called her doctor for me and she rushed over. After a few basic tests and having a IV catheter placed, I knew what was wrong. She had already been bleeding into her chest and now she was bleeding into her lungs.
There was only one thing to do, I knew this. But uttering those words were heartbreaking. I just remembering a lot of crying and saying that it was time. I felt like the world was spinning and crashing around us. I knew that I wanted to go outside for our last moments together. I didn't and still don't want to associate my work place with losing my own animal. So there we sat, under a tree together. We waited on J to meet us. We said our good byes and she relaxed. Daisy was finally comfortable; no pain, no suffering. She lived a wonderful life and was a great dog and friend to me.

The day before all of this happened, J and I took pictures together with the dogs. I am so happy and so thankful that we did. It is so nice to have these pictures to help keep the memories alive.

Yates Family -|- Louisiana Pet Photographer

A few boxers, an agility border collie, and a young yorkie....One of my favorite sessions EVER!

I arrived at Jen's mother's home and was in love. A cute little gravel driveway, an even cuter red house, and as I knocked on the door....a lot of barking.

The day of our shoot was Abby's birthday. After her modeling, the family and some friends were getting together to celebrate. She's a 10 year old boxer that has developed a tumor and has had some seizures. Pretty scary; but lucky for her, her mom's a vet and Abby is doing pretty good.
Daisy and Zephr are the other boxers along with Perk the border and Bling the yorkie. All very fabulous names and dogs. :o)

Thank you for allowing me to capture Abby and the rest of your family. I had a great time!

Darren & Bonnie-|- Baton Rouge Wedding Photography

I've known Bonnie for a while through work. She is one of the nicest people I've ever met and is always willing to help out. I was excited to hear about her wedding and even more excited when she asked me to photograph the important day.

I'm not going to lie....on my way to The Houmas House the weather was horrible. By horrible, I mean that I couldn't drive the speed limit, my wipers were working overtime, and I still couldn't see anything. I literally was crying as I was driving to the wedding location. I was freaking out thinking of all these plans that we had talked about, where the wedding was going to take place, how pretty everything was going to be. Well at that moment, my ideas were crashing around me and I was thinking I was going to be a giant failure on someone's most important day. When I got to the venue, Bonnie was all smiles, not panicking, and told me of the back up plan. Finally, I was relieved, kind of. Their families were all so welcoming and super nice. I felt at ease after meeting people and having them "model" for me. Thankfully I felt like I might be able to pull something off for them. Hopefully they love their pictures.

Personal Project -|- Baton Rouge Pet Photographer

I've been wanting to work on this personal project of mine for a while. Then I saw another photographer based out in California that was doing something similar so I sort of got discouraged. I never wanted to feel like a copycat. So here goes....

I would like to be able to capture at least one dog from each breed. I'm not picky about it being full bred or rescued, just as long as it looks like the breed it would represent.

So each month, I'm going to pick 4-5 breeds that I'm going to concentrate on finding, capturing, and marking off my list. If you have the breed I'm looking for I want you to contact me.

I got the honor of photographing this brand new baby, Jaylen. He was just days old but he already has his own personality and was definitely not into my camera. He didn't want to sleep and his mom was so sad because she had these ideas in her head for his pictures. She finally got him to sleep and I'm hoping that they love the images that I captured for them.

I first met Jaylen before he came into this world. The celebration of him was fabulous...you can see the shower {HERE}.

Randoms {Things I'm Lovin}

Things have been crazy lately, but today I wanted to share of the few things that I'm crazy about.

First off, the sneak peek from our photo session with Brittany Wilson Photography. I'm LOVING the picture of myself and Daisy. I will treasure this picture forever. Along with enlarging it and having it hang on my office wall very soon. (I don't have the pictures to post yet though)

Besides the pictures, here is what else I'm crazy about.

Gianni Binni Shoes. I saw this pair from across the shoe section at Dillard's and literally said I have to have them. Plus they are super comfy!

Betty Crocker's Cookie Brownies...Um Hello? Why didn't I think to bake cookies on top of brownies. Genius! These are delicious!

Book: CrazyLove by Francis Chan. No kidding, I've started the book over 3 times. It's amazing. I want to really comprehend every word of this book so when I find myself confused or not totally awake enough to read, I go back. I'm studying this book. I don't want to be a lukewarm Christian and that's what the book talks about.

I was so excited to be a part of this shoot. I understand how much people love and value their pets so I think it's awesome that this family did a shoot!

The day of the shoot...it started to rain. I'm not going to lie, I started to panic. We talked about different possibilities but we decided to go for it. I prayed and prayed the entire way to the location and the rain paused, the sun came out, and we had a great time. [Thank God].

Steel, Rocket, and Fergie were some of the best behaved dogs that I've ever had the pleasure of working with. They were awesome. Such different personalities, such different looks, but all part of a loving unit; That was obvious.

Thank you for allowing me to capture your family. It was an honor.

Also, thank you for the amazing gift. It is SUPER cute!

Dog Collars….

So I seem to know a lot of crafty talented people. One of them happens to be one of my best friends. We both love each other’s dogs and she did something special for mine.

She made them collars!!! How stinkin’ cute are they!!! I’m even more excited because next month I plan to have our pictures taken and I’m so excited for the dogs to be able to wear these!

The bottom and top ones are for Daisy. She wasn’t exactly sure of her neck size so she made 2. I love them both but like the bottom one better….just because it looks like something I’d wear as a bracelet. The 2 middle images are pictures of the collars for Rosie and Lavette.

Why Am I Obsessed with Bags?

If I had time, I’d switch out my purse everyday. I’d carry a purse, a bag for my laptop, and a bag with random stuff in my car. I love bags. I love FOSSIL. I love ETSY. My husband hates them all.

These are all from ETSY. And as you can see….there is a theme with them. I also love blue stripes and canvas and linen and ropes and things that look nautical.

2 Weeks Later-|- Prayers Being Answered

For some reason I questioned the fact that I was praying for my dog. I mean, really when it comes down to it, she is a dog. BUT…she’s MY dog. She’s my friend and I want to make sure that I make sure she is healthy and am making the correct decisions for her and her health. I posted before about 2 weeks ago, finding out that she has a primary lung tumor. We’ve decided medical management is the best treatment for her and us and to make sure she has the best life for all that she has left.

Well I get home from work today and I feel her ears are HOT and SWOLLEN! I was calm too. [Very proud of that]. Loaded her up into my car, which she jumped into (normally she just puts the front paws and I lift the back end). So I thought she was feeling great. I get back to work and people are looking at me like… “There’s that crazy girl with her dog again.” I’m sure that’s what they where thinking….I’m sure it is. But I wasn’t being crazy. The oncologist looked at her. We ran a little blood test and then I flipped her over…..HIVES! She was having some sort of allergic reaction. Poor thing……she was itchy and swollen.

The good news. Wait, the GREAT news….Her PCV (Packed Cell Volume) is 46!!!! Last week and the week before it was 34. Probably because she was bleeding into her chest. This is great news! I’m so excited. Tears started running down my face. I was relieved.

Maybe it’s the medicine. Maybe it’s the prayers. Maybe it’s both. Whatever it is….I’m sticking to it!!!

My little Daisy was giving to me by my husband who was my boyfriend at the time. We were just kids and I loved little golden puppies. Plus Daisy was born 4 days before my birthday. She’s getting O-L-D (we spell it because we don’t want her to know what we are saying..haha Mom). Yesterday I went to help her get into my car and she screamed. We checked her out at work and one thing lead to another; each thing getting worse and worse. Me turning more and more into a basket case. I have been preparing myself for someone to tell me she has cancer for a while. She’s a golden retriever…that’s what happens to them. But I thought that maybe I could catch it and cut it off or something. Oh no, not my dog. It would have to be buried deep inside of her so I cant see it so that it isn’t easily removed. Anyway, she’s going to live out her days as a spoiled and beautiful golden at our house, going back and forth to work with me. So blog world, be prepared to probably see more of her and her more about her.

This morning, we had a photo shoot. I don’t think she was interested for very long.

A Girl Can Dream….Can’t I?

If you “Like” me on Facebook or “Follow” me on Twitter you know that I’m making my home more organized. I will be the first to admit that I’m not the most organized at home. I organize everything at work and I like things to be in order. I don’t know why it’s different at my home. It used to be worse but as I’m growing and creating a home things are changing. It would also help if I had an actual routine; not this crazy schedule of shift working, etc.

Any who, today I’m working on my office. For Christmas my parents had my desk made for me. I love it. J and I moved everything out of the office (in the middle of construction in the laundry room/kitchen), painted, and moved everything back. Well moved most things back. Since then, half of my office was in the spare bedroom. Which is annoying because it’s not in order and I had a bunch of random items and LOTS of paper products. Notice I said WAS and HAD. I’m almost finished organizing my office. I’ve filled the recycling can and the trash can with tons of things that I don’t need or use. I’ve got a large pile of things to donate to the church like purses and bags that I no longer use but are still in great condition.

Since painting my office this great shade of green I’ve been on the search for perfect curtains. I want my office to be ME and also be functional.

While searching the web for curtains I found THESE from Anthropologie and I’m in love with everything about them, except of course the price.

Now I’m day dreaming of the possibilities in life. If I ever had a studio or an office where I had meetings the picture below is what I would want it to have in it. Plus, fresh flowers, lots of large prints, canvases, and metal, and my pups running around.

Now, back to working…..and a little day dreaming.

Lisa & Kiwi-|-Highland Road Park, Baton Rouge Pet Portraits

Lisa and Kiwi are a perfect pair. Both full of energy and fun loving. Lisa was a military brat that now calls Baton Rouge home after attending LSU and playing soccer there. She says she stayed because the people here are welcoming and so nice. I’d have to agree with that. Most southerns are inviting and warm..slightly sassy and outspoken, but most are genuinely good people. Lisa and Kiwi found each other. Kiwi has worms and Parvo but she was nursed back to health and is a spunky people loving pup.

I met them at Highland Road Park and I got to enjoy capturing the connection that the two of them have. Thank you both for allowing me to spend time with you! I hope you enjoy your images!

To say that this was a new experience for myself would be an understatement. I had no idea what I was walking into, but I entered open minded and excited. I stuck out like a sore thumb with my strawberry blonde hair and extremely pale skin but I felt invited and welcomed.

The simple and cozy feel of the shower was made by Aimee Broussard. She’s amazing! The colors everyone wore were amazing and I really hope that I captured the love and excitement that this family exuded as they celebrated Namisha’s pregnancy.

Been a few days

At one point this year I was blogging daily. That was before I got busy. Before my birthday came. Before I had a minor meltdown about Baton Rouge being under a flood warning.
Hopefully I'll be blogging more now that all of that is almost past. (still under the flood warning)

My birthday has come and gone. It was great though. My hubs got me an iPad. I wasn't really looking for it but it is great for client meetings, reading, and those lazy days. I finally found a point and shoot camera that I wanted and got that. I got to sound the day at a spa with my mom. Ate crawfish with everyone and had a cute birthday cake with a girl, camera, and dog on it. I got to eat dinner with friends and my relationship with my husband grew. Yeah, we've been married for almost 5 years and together for about 10 but we are always learning about each other and the best way to go about things.

More blogging will take place soon. I can't show all of the newest images (they are top secret until later this summer). But hopefully more images will be showing up soon!

A Family of Goldens & Their People

Andrea and I have a lot in common. Golden Retrievers are our favorite types of dogs and we are both paranoid “moms” to our pups. She is also a vet student..well I guess she isn’t a student anymore….She’s now a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She is about to embark on her intership and she is only taking one of her dogs while leaving the others at home with her husband. There will be tons of visits but she wanted a session to have images while she was gone. Andrea and her husband have adopted/rescued all three of these goldens from the Gulf South Golden Retriever Rescue. She is going to be a wonderful and caring doctor!!!

Wow, really I have no words that will sum up how I will miss you. I know that most of us come from different areas, different backgrounds, and we not always do get along. I’m not going to lie, I try to not become great friends with a lot of people from work. It ends up that people take outside stuff and bring it into work and vice versa.

Anyway, I’ve had the pleasure of becoming friends with a lot of this class. I’ve also gotten the opportunity to come into your lives and capture the things that mean most.

Congrats on today being your last day. Congrats on graduation on Monday (I’ll see you there!).

What do you drive?

How often do you get your haircut? Do you go to the same person every time?

I wish I got haircuts more often. I actually need one now. It takes a lot to trust someone with my hair. I have finally found someone in Baton Rouge that I trust and she is awesome!

Do you read the newspaper? If so, a hardcopy or the online version?

I really like readying the newspaper and I like reading the hardcopy. I feel like the online version is more confusing and just not as traditional. We don’t get the newspaper at home but I can pick it up at work.

What is the best book you have read this year?

I am trying to read more. Taking more time to read because I really love it. I think so far the best book that I’ve read this year is CrazyLove. Check it out.

What is the best movie you have seen this year?

J and I really don’t go to see movies in the theater. We have netflix and know that it won’t be long before a movie is on the list for us to watch.

Do you tend to crave sweet or salty foods?

Hmm…this is a hard one. I’m going to say more salty foods. Most of the time after I eat something sweet I want something salty after.

Do you eat breakfast every day? If so, what do you have?

No I don’t eat breakfast ever day. Since I work shift work as a vet tech, I sometimes wake up at lunch or supper time. I just eat when I’m hungry. (And sometimes when I’m bored)

If you celebrate Easter, what Easter treat/candy are you most looking forward to?

Well first off, celebrating Easter isn’t about the candy. I would rather everyone celebrate the coming of our Lord. But my favorite candy is Cadbury Mini Eggs.

How late is “sleeping in” to you?

Well I slept until 11am today but I went to bed at 4am.

Where are you going on your next vacation?

I don’t know exactly. J and I are planning on going on an Alaskan cruise sometime in the next 2 years.

I’m sure he won’t read this…he pretty much hates computers and most types of technology, but I’m taking the time to stop and talk about him.

I’ve never met anyone that works as hard. On his work days, he wakes up in the early am to drive 1.5 hours to work, works 12+ hours, then drives home to then care for horses, cows, and anything else he needs to get done. How he does this? Who knows because he sometimes sleeps for 4 hours, wakes up, and does it all again. Crazy…I know. On his days off, he spends his time taking care of the farm, spending time with Mom and friends, or trying to make Cooper laugh. Yesterday I put part of his birthday present in his truck while he was at work. I tried to sneak up to it but I had to call him about getting into the gate (that hasn’t worked for a few months but today it does). I tied 2 balloons, 1 on each side mirror, placed the ice chest full of shrimp into his truck and drove away. Not 30 minutes later, I hear his ringtone coming from my purse. J thought he would be mad because I put balloons on his truck. No, Dad was laughing. I was just being silly. Trying to let him know that I stopped what I was doing to think about him.

He does so much for me. So much for others too. He sometimes comes off harsh, but his heart is huge and super soft. He isn’t the mushy dad that talks about his feelings but he is the dad that I just know he loves me. He taught me to work hard; to get up early and get things done. Not that I live by his work ethic all of the time, but because of him I know that if I want something I have to work for it and if I want it bad enough I’ll work hard and try to get it done sooner.

Right now, he spends his downtime obsessing over Cooper. He isn’t really into taking pictures and if he knew I was posting some online he would probably fuss at me. *Don’t tell him*

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! I hope your day is wonderful. I love you for everything you are, for everything you’ve made me, and for everything you do for me. Love you so much!!!

Giving Back -|- Baton Rouge Photographer

My parents raised me to appreciate everything that I have been given and blessed with. I don’t know what I have done to be so deserving but God has blessed me beyond belief. Most things in my life have literally just fallen in my lap. J and I together have also been blessed a ton. I’m not trying to brag and I do know that not everything falls into place all the time. Some things like my job, J’s job, my first apartment, our first home…those things just fell into place. But don’t get me wrong, there have been plenty of things that haven’t just happened and my parents also raised me to work hard for what I need and want in and out of life.

I would love to be saying that I did something fantastic and remarkable but I’m just starting by giving back in the small ways that I can right now. I have been approached by a few organizations/events for the chance to give back and I am honored that they were interested because I am more than interested in helping these great organizations.

As some of you know, I was a vendor/contributor for the CAAWS Krewe of Mutts Parade this year. I had a “booth” with a mock wall (so nicely made by my wonderful husband) and a table with plenty of sample images and a lot of information. I got to support CAAWS and meet a great amount of people. Plus we gave away a session to a wonderful couple with a super cute dog (scheduled for later this month).

I then donated a session for a silent auction at an event for the LVMA (Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association). Students had to get enough donations to attend a conference at UC Davis and I was more than happy to help. I hear the winner was planning on giving the session to his granddaughter. I’m excited to capture her and that’s such a thoughtful gift from her grandfather.

I was also asked if I was interested in participating in another silent auction. This time for the Diamonds in the Ruff event being held by Yelp Baton Rouge at the Hilton. Luckily as an “artist” I get to go to the event for free so if you would like a chance to bid on a session with me please attend. The event is being held Thursday, April 14. More excitement!!………….. This Saturday April 16 the Perkins Historic Merchants District is hosting WOOFSTOCK! It sounds like it is going to be exciting and fun. Not to mention that Yours Truly was asked to cover the event. Pretty excited about that. Well actually, to be honest, they offered me a booth and I know how much work it was for the Krewe of Mutts parade that I didn’t want to ask J to help me since he is super busy with school and work. Not to mention, that I think I missed out on a lot so I asked if it would be ok for me to walk around and take pictures. They loved the idea and want to see images so they can purchase some to advertise for future events. Sounds great to me. For more information please check out the website HERE. Cooper—Avoyelles Parish Child Photographer

As you probably already know, Cooper is my nephew and my godson. Yes, I do like to add that in there because I feel so honored that my brother and sister-in-law asked J and I to be godparents. That’s a big decision. Plus, I have the greatest godparents in the world so to even be put in the same category is an honor.
I decided that I needed some Coop time and to see my parents so last week, during the middle of the week I drove to my parents’ house after working all night. Thankfully I didn’t fall asleep even though I was so tired. I stopped by my brother’s house and took Cooper. I didn’t “take” him as in stealing. I asked and they said yes. Plus I think he had other things that he needed to accomplish for the day.

Thankfully Mom was home because Cooper woke up from our nap before I did so they let me sleep a little longer. After that….we got down to business. I had already bought a SUPER cute outfit for Cooper to wear for pictures. I wanted him to have something new, something that no one knew about. Well all of the “surprise” didn’t work. The pictures were too cute! I had to share.

I hope that everyone enjoys them as much as I do. Well I think my mom is liking them more than me. I was on the phone while she looked at them…..I think she said “I like this one” and “And this one” at least 20 times. But he is the cutest thing ever.

Walt & Carly…you created a beautiful and happy baby. I can’t wait to watch him grow! But I’m warning you….HE WILL BE SPOILED!!! (At least by me. And Mom. And Dad.)

Emy is a super cute pug owned by Amanda. I know her through work, through school, through mutual friends and I was honored when she asked me to capture her Emy before she got too gray. Emy isn’t that old but she does have some gray hair. Oh well…it adds a little character. We did the shoot at Amanda’s house and Emy spent the first few minutes running away from me but after she realized cookies were involved she began to pose for her pictures.

Clients, Yes You!…You are Wonderful

I truly do have the best clients. You are all such wonderful people who I am so blessed to be able to capture you, your loved ones, or your spunky furry family members.

I always love using toys or treats to get a dog’s attention and on a shoot the other day I forgot both. No fear clients had both. Plus they gave me this super cute fish to keep in my bag…It’s bright, it’s small, but it makes a loud squeak. Thanks so much!!!

Then today I got tagged on facebook. I was afraid at first because I didn’t remember taking any pictures lately so who knew what it could be. I was excited and surprised to see that a client had hung their canvas and slimwraps at her house. I was actually more than excited!!!

Anyway, I just wanted to share some of the reasons why I love my clients. I have a million more. Mostly because they are all nice, caring, and good animal loving people. Thank you for the support!!

What type of cell phone do you have and how would you rate it?
I have an IPhone…..I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I think it’s the most convenient piece of technology that I have.
What has been your most serious injury?
Serious? I’m not sure but I’ve been injured a lot. I’ve broken my arm, fractured my wrist, fractured my tailbone, had knee problems, had foot problems, had back problems..pretty much my Mom took me to the doctor more for injuries than actually being sick. But I would say my knee issues would be the worst because I ended up having surgery. But all is well now…at least with that knee.
What is one movie you hate and why?
I’m really not into all these vampire movies or Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings(<---gross feet in LOTR). I also think they get too much hype; there are other things going on in the world!
How many email addresses do you have?
3. Family, business, and junk.
What website do you waste the most time on?
Tie between Facebook and Etsy.
Which Mexican restaurant makes the best salsa?
I really don’t eat salsa but I love when queso has beef in it!
What is your dream car?
Hmm..I’m not sure. Right now I’m really loving mine. I’m pretty content and haven’t thought about another car.
If you could spend up to $100 with no strings or restrictions or guilt, what would you buy?
New coffee table (or part of one because it cost more than $100)
What is your favorite board game?
Life and Clue…best family times ever!

Not very often…just the length is all that really changes. My hair is pretty much “styled” as straight.

Lucy & Denise~ Baton Rouge Pet Photography

There are really no words to describe how long I’ve wanted to shoot Lucy. She’s one of the cutest beagles I’ve EVER seen. Her mom is a vet student (so that’s where we met). I’ve taken care of Lucy after she had her knee surgery and I’ve watched her in the cage while we worked. Well more like Lucy watched me. She gives me the saddest, most pitiful look that she begs me to either let her out of her cage or go sit in the cage with her. I’m pretty sure that it’s the please open this door and sit with me. Either way, she’s too cute. One day Denise and I were talking and she said that she wanted to do a shoot. I was beyond excited. For some reason, before the last few months, I felt like my photography needed to be hidden from work….Like I was cheating on everyone. That’s why I never asked to just take Lucy’s pictures.

We got together Friday morning and enjoyed the beautiful weather and sunshine. Take a look at the pictures and see the eyes, the ears, and why Lucy is one of the cutest DOGS I’ve ever seen!

Yes, it’s true, I love reality tv. (My mother just cringed). She hates that I watch what she calls “garbage”. This week the new season of the Real World: Las Vegas premiered and boy oh boy does it look like it’s going to be a good one. And there is a guy from Louisiana!!!

AMERICAN IDOL
It might be reality but I’m not grouping it with what Mom calls garbage because she likes AI also. Most of the Top 13 are wonderful but I do have my favorites. Yeah, Casey, Pia, and Lauren….I’m definitely in their corners. I was so thrilled to see them all be safe this week.

CLEAN SHEETS
I know that everyone knows how wonderful clean sheets are. Unfortunately, the sheet freshness doesn’t last as long as we all wish it would. Maybe if I didn’t sleep with 2 dogs and J my sheets would last a little longer but for a few nights this week…we enjoyed wonderful smelling and feeling clean sheets.

MY NEW LENS
Yes! This week I decided it was time to buy my new lens. If you know..the 70-200mm lens is one that everyone wants but not everyone wants to fork out the money. I didn’t get the most expensive one but this one is sharp and weighs less. In the end, I think this lens is perfect. So now, at weddings I don’t have to be in your face to get the best shot; I don’t have to always run after your dog, and I can get a closer cropped shot from farther away. Aren’t you excited?!?

Lilly- Brusly Pet Photography

I met Lilly first at the Krewe of Mutts parade. Her “parents” were extremely nice and I felt so comfortable talking to them. Soon they were showing me pictures of their grandchildren.

Well after sending some emails after the parade, Lilly’s dad contacted me saying that they would love a session. We set up a session and everything was going to be wonderful! I really didn’t expect it to be as wonderful as it was. I was early so I drove around the neighborhood looking at homes and scouting some spots. Well their home and yard is a dream for a photographer. Everything was so beautiful and they certainly have some green thumbs.

Again, thank y’all for allowing me to come into your home. I am truly blessed to have been able to capture Lilly for you. She’s wonderful!!!

March 2011 Goals

Goals are easier to accomplish if we write them down, correct? Well what if we post them on our blog for everyone to hold us accountable. I think that should help.

February went well for goals. So far I feel like I’m doing pretty good. So here are my goals both personal and professional for Mach 2011.

~~Create a blogging schedule~~
Blog everyday for the rest of the month (didn’t blog the first few days)
~~Enjoy personal time~~ *(Scheduled to go camping this month)
Make time for myself
Cook at least 3 meals a week
Go to the gym at least 2 times a week (trying to go 3)
Work out/walk at home at least 2 times a week
~~Set up a shoot for the new business cards~~
Drink more water
Set up a shoot for J and I to have our pictures taken
Have a shoot for my parents…I don’t have many pictures of them
Start scheduling sessions for April & May
Finish my office
~~Finish the laundry room~~
Reorganize the guest bedroom
Create a sample album
Come up with a better work flow
Pay off all credit cards and bills (besides car & house of course)

Lent & My Sacrifice & Service

I’m not the best Catholic. I was raised as a Christian more than focusing on the exact religion. I do however feel like the 40 days of Lent should be of service and sacrifice. I’ve got big goals and I’m not going to punish myself but I’m going to try hard to make some sacrifices, work extra to be of service, and strive to make myself a better person.

What I’m Doing for Lent

Quit biting my nails
No swearing
Read my Bible daily
Go through my closet and donate everything that I don’t use/need/wear
Volunteer with a good organization
Send a card/letter to family members
Make time for my loved ones
Really work on finding a church for us to attend here
Exercise and take care of myself more
No fast food

I’m going to try. Hopefully things work out well.

And I apologize…tomorrow’s post is another list of sorts. It’s March goals. I’ll at least add a picture to this one so it’s not so boring.

1. If you won the lottery, what would be your one random, off-the-wall purchase?
Hmmmm…..well of course lots of camera gear. But off the wall…a personal organizer to make me actually continue being organized.

2. What is popular now that you just don’t get?
Silly bands, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, strange hair colors (Rhianna)

3. What would your last meal, you know, if you were ever about to be executed and you got to choose that sort of thing?
Mom’s roast, mashed potatoes, lima beans, and bread. That’s my favorite meal EVER!!!

4. When is it okay to start listening to Christmas music?
The day after Thanksgiving.

5. How do you feel about facial hair on men?
Some men can pull it off. I’m not into hairy men but J has some facial hair.

Eva- [Blessed Session]–Baton Rouge, Louisiana Pet Photography

Jenny is a super sweet person and a super strong one too. She’s the lead technician for the Cancer Treatment Center at the vet school. This means….she’s got a hard job, an emotional job, but a rewarding one too. She’s one of the nicest most genuine people that I’ve ever met, but I’m sure that you wouldn’t want to cross her. She’s had a rough start to 2011. She lost one pup and then decided that sparing Eva anymore suffering would be the best for the both of them.

Eva, Jenny, and I got together one afternoon. It was sunny, beautiful, a little too warm, but Eva was acting like she felt good. This of course made both Jenny and I sad. Sad to know that she looked good but knew that she was still suffering. Jenny wanted images to remember their time together and their friendship. I hope that I captured that for her.

Jenny—enjoy the images. I’m sorry for your loss. I know that words won’t make it better. Please hold on to the good memories. You made a wonderful life for her and she was lucky to have you (and you were lucky to have her). *BLESSED to have each other*

Sunday’s Simples

I’ve been trying to make myself blog more. Maybe setting a goal or setting a day that I MUST blog. Looks like it’s going to be Sundays…meaning the post will be ready to go before Sunday but I’ll have all week to get the post ready. The new “Sunday’s Simples” are going to be random things that I’ve done throughout the week, goals, etc. Just simple things for me to blog about on Sunday.

MOM & DAD
I think I call my mom at least 3 times a day. I always have something to ask her; what’s in a recipe, her opinion on a picture, shoes, or just to talk. Right now I need her opinion on something for Dad’s birthday.
I call Dad a bunch. We don’t really have much to talk about but he is my dad and I love him. Plus he is hilarious to talk to. There is always something going on with his work or the horses and he just makes funny comments. And I call them…just because I miss them!

FRIENDS
I really do have great friends. Right now, we’re planning a camping trip. It’s a few weeks away but we are so excited to get away from work and relax with our husbands/boyfriends and each other for a weekend.

ORGANIZATION
For everyone who really knows me, knows that I’m not organized. I TRY. I really really TRY. But I fail every time. My house is clean but there is a stack of papers (Ok, there are 3) in my office. I will say that my kitchen is organized and so is the laundry room. My bathroom is pretty good and the living room just needs a better routine of being picked up. I’m working on it. Thanks to my new desk that I got for Christmas and some other accessories, things in the office are looking a little better.

DOGS
Yesterday and today the weather wasn’t great. Of course, they don’t want to go outside, they don’t want to touch the grass, and in the end…they don’t want to use the bathroom outside. So we did have 2 little accidents but hopefully it was just the weather and everything will be good again!

BLESSINGS
For me to say that J and I are blessed would be an understatement. Most people under the age of 25 aren’t settled. I’m not saying that we are settling forever in Baton Rouge (Mom, don’t panic….we’re coming home). Or that we are settling in life, just that we don’t spend our evenings out partying and we have good jobs, a house, and don’t really owe much money. Thank God that our parents taught us how to be tight with our money. Haha.
Really, I am blessed that J is a responsible husband and that we make most decisions together. Yes sometimes those decisions mean I become the secretary and the accountant but I do like somewhat feeling like I’m in charge.

I’m so excited to have some cool announcements in the upcoming weeks. Lots of opportunities are coming my way. See…I said I was blessed and I’m so thankful for all of the support.

Spending time with my own dogs…

I’m not going to lie, I probably spend more time with strangers animals than my own. As most of you know, I’m a vet tech and I’ll be the first to admit that the job has changed me. My heart has hardened but it needs to be as I work in the ICU. I see a lot of sad/bad things. If my heart was soft, I’d probably cry A LOT and not be able to do my job. Don’t get me wrong, I still love animals and want to take great care of them but I have to keep my sanity. Except for with “T”. She is the best patient ever. An old grumpy cat that would meow and hiss when she wanted us to leave her alone…but that was all she did. She never attacked or anything. Well after working with her for 4 years and seeing her probably on a monthly basis (if not more), today her family decided it was time. For the first time since I’ve worked there I had a breakdown in the middle of ICU. I cried because it was so sad to see her the way she was but it was so sad to let her go.

So after I got home from work…I decided to spend time with my own dogs. Then I got the bright idea that a photo shoot was necessary. Well…I’m crazy and the 3 of us went out into the cold with a pocket full of treats. I didn’t get the greatest images but I got some that I love. That’s all that matters.

Days like today make me appreciate myself, my job, my coworkers, and my own animals a lot more.

Meet Lilly. {Baton Rouge Pet Photographer}

Lilly belongs to one of my dear friends, Lauren. She and I went to undergrad together at LSU and we were part of a great group of friends; not to mention that she began dating one of my good friends. For Christmas, he gave Lauren a gift certificate for a session. Obviously, I knew this was part of her Christmas and a day after I got a phone call from each of them. Lauren thought it was for her sweet little Lilly to have pictures taken; he was thinking more for them to have pictures together. Anyway, we decided that either way both shoots needed to happen!

It’s ashamed that Lauren and I don’t see each other more since she is in vet school and I work there but we both are so busy and on opposite sides of the building. We meet up after the LSU SVM Open House and Lilly was all prettied up because she was in the Parade of Breeds! She’s not to crazy about the camera and she really only listens to her mom but she was great to shoot and I love that Lauren now has these images of her sweet Lilly.

Lauren—I miss you! I hope you love these. She’s a great dog and you’re a great dog mom! You are also going to be an amazing veterinarian in just a couple years!!!!

Starr is the fur baby of a couple that absolutely loves her. I know her mom from work and Starr is her 13 year old baby, so of course we had to have a photo shoot! To say that her mom is obsessed with her is an understatement. When they built their new home…she got a room {which is SUPER cute!!} I love people that love their animals!!! Their home is just beautiful, with bold and bright colors and tons of sunlight. When I arrived at their home, I fell in love! With the awesome kitchen and concrete floors. The walls are plastered with pictures and paintings of Starr so hopefully her Mom will find room to display some of the new images!!

Things Are Coming Together…

I’m so excited and proud of my new website and now that the blog almost completely matches it, I’m even more excited. I know that I’ve gone through a few different color schemes and ideas but this whole set up seems rights. It’s ME! I’m obsessed with the color navy blue, I love things that look nautical, and I love taking pictures of beautiful people and their pets! Thank you to everyone who has supported me through all of this! I truly appreciate it all.

Willing Wednesday- The start of setting small goals

I’ve been trying to come up with ways to blog more and maybe have some sort of set days that I blog about certain topics. I know that a lot of people do “Wedding Wednesday” and some do “Thankful Thursday” but I wanted to come up with something that I came up with and that I might really stick too. I know that I could come up with enough stuff to be thankful for on every Thursday but I’m not sure that that would be very interesting.

So I came up with this….

Willing Wednesdays.

Why Wednesday? Who knows. I don’t even really. I am trying to become more organized, have more of a schedule (at least at home), and live my life a little better all together. I know that I won’t have a “normal” schedule with work for a while. We work shift work and we switch shifts every month, or something like that. Being on overnights this month sucks, by the way. I’m off tonight and since I slept all morning after I got off of work I’m wide awake in my office hoping that someone will post something interesting on Facebook or Twitter. I’ve also spent a little money online…don’t tell James! LoL. Anyway, Willing Wednesdays are going to be about the things that I am willing to change and trying to change. Everything from the organization in my office, the color of my kitchen cabinets, how much I work out, finding a church for us to attend regularly, and the challenges I’m going to overcome with my photography.

I posted before about how excited I was about my new nephew; and I’m still excited. Seeing him a little bigger every time we visit kind of makes me sad because I don’t want to miss much, but I like that he is a very healthy baby. My SIL had to go to the doctor and Cooper and I got to spend the day together and what a wonderful day it was. At first he was a little fussy and I think it might have made everyone a little nervous but it was great. We spent the first 20 minutes staring at each other and making silly faces. Somewhere in his little baby brain he probably thought his Nanny was really crazy. For most of the day he slept, had a few bottles in between, and dirtied a couple diapers…Life was good.

While he was sleeping a snapped a few pictures. This is the one that I love. He looks so peaceful, his eyelashes are getting so long (Me=Jealous), and he is just so darn CUTE!!!

Bentley's Canvas Slim Wrap–|- Baton Rouge Pet Photographer

Bentley was a great session for me. I was freezing, I was at a new location, and I felt like I was running late (just a minute…but still). The outcome of the session, for me, was wonderful because I got these amazing images of Bentley just for his owner to have as a gift for Christmas. Her boyfriend, Mike, gave her the images from our session plus some canvas slim wraps. When the order arrived, I really wanted to keep them and hang them in my house, even though he doesn’t belong to me, I just really thought that the images were great and truly captured Bentley.

The above image on the left is the 8x8 slim wrap canvas. The image on the right is the side view showing that it sticks out from the wall about an inch. These come ready to hang.

Accomplishing Goals for 2011.

Not just setting them. But accomplishing goals.

Don’t get me wrong, I pretty much love photographing any animal (as long as they aren’t trying to attack me), but there are certain breeds of dogs that I would love to capture. I know I’ve shared a list before but I didn’t go for it, hunt down the breeds, and made the excuse that I was busy. NOT in 2011! I’m going to do it. It’s sort of a personal project but I don’t really want to share all of the details until I accomplish more of it!

Lexi [LuLu]–Silverhill, Alabama Pet Photography

Lexi belongs to my aunt and uncle. She lives a wonderful life. At first Michelle didn’t want a dog, she didn’t like dogs in the house, she just wanted cats..[the list goes on and on]. Finally Phillip got the dog. Their 2 girls love the dog. Now Michelle does. But no one loves Lexi [aka LuLu] like Phillip. We were away for the weekend together once. He called Gram multiple times just to make sure she was ok.

Anyway, for Christmas I was asked to sneak over and take some pictures of LuLu. And that I did…..She was greatly behaved [after she calmed done from me walking in]. And she is just so darn cute!

As 2011 begins, I find my mind racing. Racing about things I need to get done, things I want to do, and all the possibilities that the world holds. Last year I had some things that I wanted to do but didn’t push myself to do them. Well this year is going to be different.

Things We Need to do

Finish my office [almost done, just need some organizing and going through paper work]
Save money for our Alaskan vacation
Finish the kitchen [cabinets & walls painted, shelves placed, new curtains hung, organization]
Finish the laundry room [so super close to done]
Make more time for “us” [J starts school in 9 days. Life is going to change but we’re going to make it great]
Be healthy, loose weight [I want to be in good shape before we start trying for kids]

Things I want to do

Shoot [with my camera] more awesome pets
Just shoot more
Shoot for myself [nature shots are coming back]
Go somewhere amazing
Do a shoot out of state!!!
Shoot my family. Individually. I think it would be awesome. [They all hate the camera]
Loose weight

As the year starts, I’m planning for what’s ahead. But I do not know THE plan that God has set for me. Hopefully I can do my best to follow the PATH that I’m led too.

I knocked on the door and heard a deep, loud bark. I thought I was at the wrong house because I knew I was going to be shooting some shih tzu pups. Well I was at the right house but Maverick, a 5 year old, was protecting his home. After their mom opened the door I was greeted with some licks and sniffs. Reggie, 2 months old, was so soft and sweet. Plus had puppy breath as his kissed my face. After a few minutes of getting to know them and them to know who I was and that I wasn’t there to hurt them I started shooting.

I thought their home was so cute and cozy. Their mom has good taste and decorated everything so well! Both Maverick and Reggie were so cute and sweet and were just so loved. You could tell that they love their momma!!!

Cooper Was Born! ~|~ Newborn Photography & AUNT!!!!

To say that I was excited about November 10 was an understatement. I was trying not to be a crazy sister, a crazier sister-in-law, or a crazy aunt, BUT I’m pretty sure I was all of the above. But who cares!! God blessed my brother and his wife with a beautiful baby boy. I was so excited to share in their day and see them come together as a little family. I was overwhelmed with joy and love (as I am now, just writing this).

My day went like this…

I left Mom’s house and headed to the hospital. I wanted to be there to take images of the entire day. But first, I had to stop by Target and buy a present and an extra CF card for my camera (because the 3 that I had just might not be enough). I was trying to find a parking spot when I called my brother to check in. He said they were in a room already and placing her IV. I had to HURRY! I gathered my things out of my car and hustled down the hospital hallways trying to find them. FINALLY!! I was to their room. And I got scared for a minute….my brother’s face was pale. Paler than mine has ever been (which if you know me, that’s pretty pale). WHAT?!? I just wanted to know what was wrong. It was ok, baby ok. Mom fine. Just some troubles placer her IV. THANK GOD!!!

Everyone else began arriving and I was continuing to snap pictures, ask if they needed anything, and be so giddy inside I could explode.

They wheeled her away and we waiting. I got a text from my brother and thinking back I should have kept it to myself for 30 seconds longer because my phone was snatched away and passed around the room. I was the last to see the picture but he was here, 10 fingers, 10 toes, and healthy!!!

A few minutes later..my brother entered the room with a nurse wheeling Cooper into the room. I really didn’t want to cry but the look on my brother’s face as he looked at his son was priceless and just melted my heart. We watched as they cleaned him, did footprints, and gave him his shots.

Then Carly was wheeled back into the room and we were all kicked out. They had a few minutes as a family…then I got invited in. JUST ME?!?!? YES! I took pictures of him in his parents’ and his big brother’s arms and while they held him I got asked to be his godmother. I was and still am so honored that they chose James and me to be his godparents. They had plenty of people to choose from. Then it was my turn to hold him! And at that moment I promised to love him and spoil him until the end of time!

Then everyone else came in and stole him away but I knew I’d have to share. I’m thankful that there are so many people to love him. That’s important too. We stayed late and I got to hold him again.

I’ve heard about him coming into this world for months. His dad is a vet school student so I see him all the time. I’ve bugged him with questions about his wife and how she was doing just because…that’s what you do; you ask, you check up, you offer your help (even though you know most people won’t take it). Or that’s what I do. I really would help them though, especially since I got to finally meet the baby!

I was excited for the shoot that morning, but also nervous. I see Joey all the time but I’d only met his wife, Kit, once in passing. She was letting a stranger come into her house and photograph her brand new baby. I was honored, I still am. They are the cutest little family and I wish I had a picture of them all to show but they weren’t yet prepared to stand in front of the camera. They warned when I got there; They said he doesn’t sleep long and he is always hungry. Well…they were wrong! He was PERFECT! He did need a break to fill his tummy but he slept through most of my camera in his face.

Life, Dreams, Support, & Negativity ~|~ Personal Post:

Lately things have been crazy. Some good, some bad. I’ve been thinking and praying about the path that I’m supposed to take in life. Hopefully I’m on the correct path now. My friends have been so supportive and I’m so blessed to have friends that love me unconditionally. I’m so thankful that we all have the relationship that we do! My parents are also so supportive. They just want me to do what is right and makes me happy. Dad would say something silly like, whatever makes me enough money that I don’t have to borrow any from him. But if I need anything, he’s there for me. He just likes to be sarcastic.

At the point where I am now in my photography career, I’m beginning to see negativity. I didn’t think it would be from the people that I’ve seen it from but what can I say; it happens!

Anyway, I really want to thank the people that do support me! I know that my husband gets tired of giving me his opinion on every shoot, but he still looks when I ask and gives me his opinion (even though I don’t always like it).

James- Thank you for the continued support. Thank you for telling me I don’t need to buy every lens that I want and reminding me that I’ll get more as I grow. Thank you for doing the laundry lately. I hate laundry and I’ve been really busy. Thank you for loving me.

Mom & Dad- Really no words will ever explain how thankful I am for the 2 of you. You’ve always been supportive. I just hope that I never disappoint you and you are proud of my accomplishments. Love you!

Cute Little Pug: Cota – | – Port Allen, Louisiana Pet Photographer

Mille was chosen as the winner for the pet photography contest on Facebook. We’ve been trying to schedule a shoot but between her Mom’s schedule and mine we had some difficulty. But we did it! And now I’m excited to share.

Millie is a border collie mix and they are guessing that she turns one now! She is one of the happiest dogs I’ve ever seen. Plus she’s sweet, soft, and very loving. This is a surprise for their mother. At first it was for Christmas but they just can’t wait so it’s for her birthday. Haley and I are close friends (as you can see from our vacation pictures), her sister and I have hung out before, but this was the first time that I met their brother. I’m pretty sure he was ready to be done with this before I snapped the first shot.

I think that they are such a good looking group of siblings. Their parents should be proud!

Another photographer shared this video on her website. I sat and watched it…then cried like a baby. I deal with sick animals everyday and I’ve hardened my heart to a lot of what happens at work. I try to leave work and work. If not I would drive myself crazy thinking about each patient and how they are doing. It’s sometimes easier said then done because of course there are the patients that I just fall in love with and want to take home with me. Our job is hard and lately I’ve been trying to be a lot more sympathetic and understanding instead of being a cold hearted person. Don’t get me wrong, I love animals and my job but sometimes it eats at me.

This video has inspired me to add a new type of session for the pets. Blessed Sessions!! These are now going to be offered for terminally ill pets and for service animals. They are called this because we are blessed to have our animals in our lives and they are blessed to have us in theirs. Companions, friends, or family; whatever you consider your pet we are blessed to be able to have them to play, snuggle, or just hang out with!

Nellie (Labrador) ~|~ Avoyelles Parish Pet Photographer

Nellie is an 8 year old lab that belongs to my brother. She’s the sweetest thing and perhaps the smallest lab I’ve ever seen. She probably weighs 40 pounds, but don’t let her size fool you. She’s a hunter, well more of a fetcher. She listens very well and I think some of this might be out of fear that he will fuss at her. Since he has gotten married, Nellie is more of a family dog and less hunter. My brother doesn’t want to hear that…at all!

Anyway, I was at there house and we decided that they needed a few pictures of Nellie.

Vacation & Friends

Wow, it was a great vacation. We got to experience so much together. “Sisters” is what we like to call each other because we could be. No drama, no problems, just relaxing and having fun. On Friday we drove up to see some caves and on the way back we stopped to have a little photo shoot with each other. It was a great time and we got these cute pictures in the Aspen Trees!!!!
